    111608 ratings

I resisted changing my calendar app for so long because I didn't want to see the need for it. So glad I finally did - DigiCal is what I wish Google's native calendar was. And the widgets are so much nicer.

Think of the Facebook chat heads. Now imagine clicking a web link in an app and having that web page load in a chat head style bubble while you do other productive things. Great concept, seamless. Can share pages natively to Pocket too!

Pop-up notifications. Pop-ups suck on web browsers, but on phones and tablets they're actual time-savers.

  • MinutesPad MinutesPad

    MinutesPad

    Artezio, LLC

    70 ratings

This is a promising new app that has a free variant - but sometimes you pay to help the devs make a promising app great. Great way to track meetings and to-dos if you're a corporate user.

Look, we all know that the file manager space is crowded. This one was worth the purchase for me. It's simple, flexible, and does what I need it to without fuss.

If you're not enough of a control freak for Tasker, then grab this little gem from the makers of Trigger. The devs are always open to new ideas but this is a nice set-and-forget app.

    DU APPS STUDIO

    42149 ratings

If you're in the market for a battery-saving app, this one is worth the purchase (especially now while it's on sale). For the price you get "smart" automatic battery saving profiles based on time and context that the free version doesn't have.

Why pay for this when you can set up the default Android mail client with Exchange? Because with this app, you don't have to cede control of your phone to your employer's Exchange policies (Remote wipe at their discretion? No thanks!).

  • Trigger - Task Launcher Trigger - Task Launcher

Upgrading to Pro on this app unlocks every feature they ever made or will ever make in the future. That's a pretty good investment down the road. And it's not just for NFC tags, either.

Paying for this app does nothing but remove ads - but it's such a great app and so handy, you won't mind letting the developer know by plopping down a bit of cash.

  • AutomateIt Pro AutomateIt Pro

    AutomateIt Pro

    SmarterApps Ltd

    5749 ratings

The Pro version of this app allows you to do conditional AND or OR combinations of automation tasks. That's a big deal and turns AutomateIt from a great app to an indispensable one. And it's still cheaper than Tasker.

This app is so much better than any other weather app on Android, it's worth the purchase price - even if you can get weather information free with UCCW or other freeware.

Sometimes, when you see art, you want to support it. That's what made me pay for Timely long before the trial period ended. Simply put, you're paying for a bit of beauty.

Everyone should have a backup option on their phones. Upgrading to Premium unlocks some critical features like Android-to-Android backup and some rooted-phone functions. Pay now or REALLY pay later.

    226878 ratings

It takes me a while to decide to pay for apps instead of just stick with the freeware versions, but with Nova it was an easy choice. More expensive than the free GO Launcher, but you get what you pay for with no bloat, lightning performance, and...
