If you think that all the newfangled activity trackers out there are entirely too complicated, give ProtoGeo a try.

This is the best app I've found to track both activity and location. It uses FourSquare for locations, but figures out where you've been without explicit check-ins. It's the first step towards a real automated daily journal of your activity.

A clean looking app with some fun, bouncy animations and brilliant functionality that cleverly utilises the phone's accelerometer. It automatically tracks your activity (walking, running cycling etc) in the background, providing you with well illustrated feedback. Battery consumption is minimal.

cantfeelmylegs - a surprisingly light movement tracker. If you just want a barebones app that tracks your steps and displays KMs walked etc go for this. Has very little impact on battery.

With Moves, our goal was to create an app that will keep your phone running fine if you charge it nightly. In tests with Moves and other typical phone use, we’ve reached that goal, but your results may vary, as there are many variables that affect battery consumption. We’re continuously working on minimizing battery consumption even further.

Unfortunately, Samsung Note II cannot run its accelerometer sensor in the background. We have tried different solutions, but we have not found a satisfactory way to support the device. We would really like to support Note II and try to find a way in the future.
